Summary
"A female Swindler" known as Miss Robertson defrauded several tradesmen up to 20,000l. She borrowed 2,000l. from a Mr. Creasy, claiming that she was waiting for inheritance from her deceased uncle. From Hatchett's, she managed to get an expensive chariot with silver mouldings. From Mr. Oakley, she recieved furnishing for a house she was renovating worth up to 4,000l. As Mr. Oakley was asking for his money, she refered him to "her cousin", the Bishop of London. At this point, her con was discovered and she fled her house just before it and its contents were seized. "No discovery has yet been made of this Swindler. Mr. Pearce, of St. Paul's Church-yard, met her last week in Bishopsgate-street, dressed in man's cloaths and boots, with a Miss Sharp leaning on her arm."
