DARING ROBBERY.

Summary

Report about a robbery led by a person suspected to be a man in female attire who forced a certain Mr. Bowes (brother to Lord Strathmore) inside a house to strip him of his property. Prior to the attack, Bowes "was extremely annoyed by some of the lower order of women of the town laying hold of him, and begging money, when, to get rid of them, he gave one of them a shilling; he had proceeded a very few paces futher before he felt himself seized violently by both arms, and, at the same instant, he received a blow on the back part of his head, which totally deprived him of his senses.  He did not recollect anything further that passed till he found himself in an up-stairs room of a house, with a woman of the most masculine appearance and voice, whom he suspected was a man in female attire, and who, with the most horrid imprecation and threats, demanded all his property [. . . .]"
