Summary
Theatre review of the operetta The Young Guard in which the peasant girl Estella (played by Madame Anna Thillon) in the guise of a male minstrel enlists as a soldier and, "despite her awkwardness at drill is left on guard for the night, when she helps Don Alvarez, a Carlist officer, escape from a Christinos prison, after which they marry. "Madame Thillon acted throughout with great archness and comic humour, and looked as pretty as could be in her minstrel-costume."
