Summary
News report about two Irish leaders who used multiple disguises to escape the English authorities. One of them, Mr. Stephens, assumed female attire to escape from Waterford to Paris, through Dover. He was able to join the National Guards once he had arrived in France. "The history of Mr. Doheny's escape to Paris has already been told--that of Mr. Stephens remains to be narrated. It is said that he disguised himself in the costume of a woman; he had a feminine appearance; and, having lingered away some days in Waterford, was met at last by some friend, who gave him money to travel to England or France."
