Summary

Review of the performance given by Mrs. Selby in her depiction of Othello on March 13th at the Queen's Theatre. "The novelty of the character of Othello being supported by a lady, Mrs. Selby, at this theatre last night attracted a larger audience than has for some time lately attended the representatons. Notwithstanding the difficulties with which she had to contend in personifyng a character so essentially masculine as that of the Moor, Mrs. Selby was successful in the delineation of many of the beauties with which the part abounds, and depicted without apparent effort, and yet with great natural force and effect, the more tender passages of the author."
