Summary
"Mrs. Martyr in Macheath.--Mrs. Martyr is a bold woman: not bolder than other ladies on the stage. Mrs. Kennedy, Miss Walpole, Mrs. Cargil, Mrs. Wells, and many other Mistresses and Misses have played Macheath." Mocking riposte to those who say that "appearing in breeches is indelicate". "A leg is a leg all the world over, and you will allow, barring the pun, that women conceal their legs from habit." Hint of attempt to tar those critical of breeches parts with woman-hating: "Let every man who is an enemy to a pretty woman--disapprove--"
