Summary
Anecdote from "some years since" about "three high-bred women of fashion" at the Theatre Royal in Dublin who bring a new actress to tears and are in turn insulted by a man who jumps on stage, declaring that "'My friends that sit about me are determined the play shall not go on, till those three drunken gentlemen in women's clothes leave the stage-box.'" In the ensuing "shower of oranges and apples from both galleries, the Amazonians retired in the utmost confusion, admidst the hoots and hisses of the spectators."
