Summary
The original prologue to the Tragedy of Percy (current performance being reviewed) has some lines that are "so perfectly a-propos" with the recent arrival of the Chevalier D'Eon, since they humorously discuss "men becoming feminine, and ladies becoming masculine, with equal right to wear breeches": "Did not a Lady Knight, late Chevalier, / A brave, smart soldier to your eyes appear? / Hey! Presto! His sword becomes a fan, / A comely woman rising from the man." Note the class valence of "Lady" and "Knight" here. Also an "Amazonian maid."
