Summary

"The sincere admirer of Mrs. Jordan, who, in the Morning Post of Friday last, recommends to that lady an appearance in Macheath, betrays more partiality than taste. The novelty (as he terms it) of Mrs. Jordan's Macheath, might, no doubt, for one night, attract a crowded audience, but this exhibition would add as little to her theatric reputation as the Scrub of Mrs. Abington did to that accomplished actress.  The part of Macheath is in every respect ill adapted to Mrs. Jordan's abilities.  Her figure is entirely too petite, her deportment neither marking or impressive, and her voice deficient both in power and compass for the proper execution of the songs in the character."
